What is Volumetric Weight?
The majority of couriers base their shipping rate on either the actual weight or volumetric weight of a parcel, whichever is the greater. If your item is large and takes up a lot of space when being moved about, the cost is greater for the courier to cover. It doesn't matter if you are delivering internationally or within Malaysia, volumetric weight still applies.
How to Calculate Volumetric Weight?
Luckily our volumetric calculator does the math for you, so as long as you declare the actual dimensions you can avoid any weight dispute issue. Failure to do so can result in the courier charging you for the additional weight at a normal rate, plus it can cause your parcel delivery to be delayed. Let's learn how the calculator works for you!
Step 1: From the sidebar of your dashboard, click on the "Tools" and then "Volumetric Calculator".
Step 2: Measure your parcel dimensions using a tape measure once your box is packed, then enter the width, length, and height. You can enter the measurements in cm or inches.
Note: Standard divisor is 5000. Some couriers may use a different value.
Step 3: Then, the volumetric weight will be shown.
