A weight dispute happens when there's a mismatch between the recorded weight of a package and its actual weight. This can lead to disagreements between sender, courier, and recipients, often resulting in unexpected costs or delivery delays. Weight disputes usually arise from scale inaccuracies, handing errors, or miscalculating packaging materials. To avoid weight disputes when shipping, senders should take proactive measures to ensure accurate weight representation. This includes understanding weight types, accurately weighing items, calculating volumetric weight, using appropriate packaging, and being aware of potential charges due to discrepancies. By following these guidelines, senders can minimize the risk of additional fees and ensure a smoother shipping experience.

Understand weight type: Always quote the higher weight between actual weight and volumetric weight when booking.

Accurate weighing: Use a scale to measure the actual weight of your item before shipping.

Calculate Volumetric Weight: Measure the dimensions of your parcel (Length, width, height) and use EasyParcel volumetric Weight calculator to find the volumetric weight

Important of Packaging: Difference packing methods can affect volumetric weight. Ensure that you are using the right packaging materials to minimize costs and accurately reflect the weight. 

Potential charge: Be aware that discrepancies in declared weight may result in additional fees based on the final weight validated by the courier.


What actions can be taken to resolve a weight dispute?

Please note

  • The courier may re-weigh or measure your parcel to confirm the weight. 
  • If the declared weight is incorrect, you'll be charged based on the actual weight.

If you understate the weight of your parcel, the courier service will charge EasyParcel based on the actual weight. We'll then pass this charge on to your account.

Step 1: Head over to Contact Us page and click on Shipment Enquiry.

Step 2: Select whether your parcel is a domestic or international shipment. 

Step 3: A list of options will appear. Now, scroll until you're able to see the 'Weight Discrepancy - misdeclared parcel weight/sizes' and select the option.
